AI Act: what companies using AI need to do now
A software update, a new ranking feature in your applicant tracking – and suddenly your company is the deployer of a high-risk AI system. What the AI Act requires after the amendments of July 2026.
The AI Act (EU) 2024/1689 regulates artificial intelligence by its intended purpose: some practices are prohibited, high-risk AI systems must meet strict requirements, certain systems carry transparency obligations, and every company using AI professionally supports the AI literacy of its staff. The AI digital omnibus Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, in force since 27 Jul 2026, moved the high-risk dates to 2 Dec 2027 (Annex III) and 2 Aug 2028 (Annex I), rewrote Article 4 and added two prohibitions.
The whitepaper is aimed at management, compliance, IT, HR and data protection, and at manufacturers building AI into their products. It explains roles and role changes, AI literacy and prohibited practices, classification under Annexes I and III, the obligations of deployers of high-risk AI paragraph by paragraph (Art. 26), the fundamental rights impact assessment (Art. 27), the transparency obligations, the provider obligations and the new route for AI in machinery via the Machinery Regulation, with a deadline overview, a 10-step plan and two practice examples.
Each obligation chapter includes a short "Implementation in Complass" box (decision W11); only features already live are named.
